The Oreo Twister / Oreometer

Design, video, and content credit: Max Fan If you have to test the mechanics of an Oreo, what better fixture is there than an Oreometer? Based on the design of a laboratory rheometer (), we introduce this multi-part clamp that grips Oreos by each separate wafer, held securely by wound rubber bands, and elegantly applies torque using coins to split Oreos in half with scientific precision. Preferred pronunciation: /ɔriːˈämədər/ (ore-ah-meter). /ˈɔːrioʊˌmēdər/ (oreo-meter) is acceptable. With this tool, we introduce the research topic of Oreology.
