The well-known song “The Yellow Rose of Texas“ first appeared in Christy’s Plantation Melodies. No. 2 and became popular among the Confederate Army during the Civil War. The drum beat is Connecticut Halftime from the Col. H. C. Hart’s New and Improved Instructor for the Drum, 1862.
