A Russian hero: Sergei Bodrov Jr. Кармадонское ущелье. Место гибели Сергея Бодрова
The best Russian films after the collapse of the Soviet Union are “Brother” (1997) and “Brother 2” (2000). There are many reasons for this. A brilliant director, an amazing track list, interesting plots and, of course, the guy who played the main character—Sergei Bodrov Jr. He wasn’t even a professional actor.
The director had managed to unintentionally find a guy in Russia during the 1990s, who not only spoke French and English but also studied the architecture in the Venetian Renaissance painting, and invited him to play the role of a brutal Russian guy who does not distinguish a Frenchman from an American. It’s genius! Later, Sergei became a director himself.
The Kolka–Karmadon rock-ice slide occurred on the northern slope of the Mount Kazbek massif in North Ossetia–Alania on 20 September 2002, following a partial collapse of the Kolka Glacier. The resulting avalanche and mudflow, 125 people died and went missing, including a film crew, among them the director Sergei Bodrov Jr.
