Television producers and film directors seem determined to include black people and those of Asian origin in plays and films set in Britain during the distant past, but cannot seem to make up their minds whether there was strict equality between ethnicities in the past or whether the country was full of vicious racists. The new Netflix film Munich: The Edge of War sums up this dilemma.
