A Look Under My Studio Desk

Here’s a quick look underneath my studio desk at the back of all the studio gear. There’s a lot of cable management that has to go on to attempt to separate power from signal cables. I also really dislike having a whole bunch of access cable length so I try to either buy or build cables that are almost the perfect length. The center section has an incredible amount of inputs and outputs because of the converters, patchbay‘s, and the SSL X-Desk. Yes unfortunately (even though I tried to keep it neat) it’s a cable mess in this area but it works. I do label all of my cables so if something does need to come out it’s not a huge deal. Fortunately even with this amount of gear, connections, and power required, I don’t have any noise or ground loop issues. I think this mainly has to do with the fact that every bay has a dedicated power conditioner, cable lengths are kept very short, and everything has been put together with a purpose!
