Before the more famous Vietnam War, the region of modern day Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia formed French Indochina, a colony of France that saw multiple invasions in the Second World War. One of these, was by Thai forces in the Franco-Thai War of 1940, a conflict that occurred within the period of World War 2 (1939-1945) but which may actually be considered as a different struggle altogether.
