Shelling (1914-1918)

Shelling. Opens with very hazy shot of smoke from bomb hitting in distance. Then a very clear shot of bomb landing in village; next to a house which is already in ruins. MS battlefield: MS 2 French soldiers in trench; one sits in a seat raised up so he can peek through hole at top of trench; the other is holding a primitive-looking telephone - or some sort of communications device - up to his ear. MS French artillery firing big gun. Shot of unidentified thing blown up into a tree. Wide shot looking over hills; with explosions in distance. Good shot of a few French soldiers hurrying towards camera, one carries a wounded friend piggyback. MS battlefield debris. Big explosion sends a torrent of earth flying. 3 French soldiers at machine gun. Bombed house in city with smoke blowing about; pan down street.
