After almost 20 years at war, the U.S. wants out of Afghanistan. To that end, American officials recently announced they had reached a framework deal with the Taliban, with further negotiations ongoing. But after the costs of that conflict - in lives lost, in hundreds of billions spent - how well does this outcome deliver on the many aspirations the NATO force declared during the conflict?
