This was a very enjoyable event, as part of the Royal College of Music’s Day of Percussion. David Hockings invited me to give a clinic and perform with the college Big Band, led by Guy Barker. These kids are classically trained, not normally playing ’jazz’ or in a big band like this. They were absolutely just great, playing these very hard charts (in tribute to Buddy Rich) .....
