UK suspends funding to UNRWA after allegations staff were involved with Oct 7 massacre

The UK has suspended funding to a UN aid agency for Palestinians after allegations some of its staff were involved in Hamas’ attack on October 7. The UK joins the US, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada and Finland in suspending funding to the agency. The UN has fired the 12 members of UNRWA staff Israel alleges were involved in the attacks. The UN has also warned civilians in Gaza are the ones who will suffer as a result of the decision. UNRWA provides aid to 1.7 million Palestinians in Gaza, and since the start of the war has sheltered hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in its facilities.
