Transwing® -- A radically new way to fly

Demonstration of a 4 ft wingspan Transwing® prototype by Long wings are necessary for efficient horizontal flight -- a good wing can generate 20 times of lift compared to the thrust that pushes it forward, while a drone has to support all of its weight by thrust generated by the propellers. But the long wings create problems for vertical landing and hover -- they are unwieldy in close quarters and are easily blown around by wind gusts. This flying prototype shows the revolutionary Transwing® concept of transforming between long airplane-like wing configuration and the compact wind-resistant drone-like configuration for takeoff and landing. This vehicle offers the best of both worlds: the efficient long-range horizontal flight of an airplane and the rugged and nimble vertical takeoff and landing of a drone.
