Always one of the most physically demanding events on the WRC calendar, the Safari Rally holds a special place in many fans’ hearts - deservedly so. From the magnificent scenery to the crazy crowds, the dramatic weather conditions and the amazing local wildlife, there’s never been another race quite like it and the interest has never diminshed. At the 1984 Safari Rally, top drivers like Bjorn Waldegaard, Raano Aaltonen, Stig Blomqvist, Markku Alen, Hannu Mikkola and Timo Salonen tried their level best to beat the clock, and the terrain, as they charged through enormous stages and wowed the local fans.
