Skiing Without Snowing (1932)

Germany. “In Berlin they’ve started schools for skiing, where you can turn and twist and fall about without hurting any snow whatever.“ M/S of several men on skis inside a building. A man gives instructions in German. The men bend one knee and bob up and down on the skis. Various shots of them performing different exercises on their skis. They then practice their skiing techniques, skiing from one side of the gymnasium to the other. One man does an impressive jump, another falls over. “And when you want excitement, try these.“ Man uses his ski poles to propel himself into a somersault. He repeats his gymnastic feat. Another skier demonstrates how to jump over a box on skis. They also practice ski jumping with little tiny skis on their feet. We see one of the jumps in slow motion.
