Viola da gamba making | Part 15 – fingerboard and tailpiece
In today’s part of the viola da gamba making series you can see how a baroque fingerboard and tailpiece is build. Basically it’s a wooden core covered with a hardwood veneer (usually ebony). After installing the fingerboard and tailpiece, shaping the neck and gluing purfling to the back the instrument is ready for varnishing.
