Direct numerical simulation of an air-filled Rayleigh-Bénard convection at Ra=1e8 and 1e10
Direct numerical simulation of an air-filled (Pr=0.7) Rayleigh-Bénard configuration at Ra=1e8 and 1e10. Simulation was carried out on the MareNostrum supercomputer using 784CPUs and a 607M mesh (1024×768×768) for the highest Ra. Numerically, the governing equations were discretised in space on a Cartesian staggered grid using a finite-volume fourth-order symmetry-preserving scheme.
