Swordmaster - Deathraider [Full EP - 1998]

Deathraider were a Swedish black metal band that eventually changed their sound to the melodic death metal you will hear in this demo. Honestly, I’m not the biggest melodeath fan and kinda uploaded this more for the record and because I’m sure someone is bound to enjoy this, but anyway - “Deathraider“ is surely derivative of At the Gates, especially their mid phase with SotS, but it also takes some from The Crown or Dissection. It’s also quite thrashy and has a fair ammount of skanking for my tastes. Even though all the songs end up being melody-focused, these dudes could write killer straight death metal if they wanted to, some riffs are relentless. Also, there’s a Roky Erickson cover. A fucking Roky Erickson cover. I don’t need to say anything else do I? More bands need to cover Roky Erickson.
