The Honda Prelude Concept marks a significant milestone in Honda’s hybrid performance history, celebrating 25 years with its European debut. This new model promises to revive the Honda Prelude name with a modern twist, balancing exhilarating driving pleasure and outstanding efficiency. The Honda Prelude Concept will be unveiled to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11-14, following its initial reveal at the Japan Mobility Show.
The Honda Prelude made its first European appearance 45 years ago, showcasing Honda’s cutting-edge technology through five generations until 2001. The new Honda Prelude Concept is set to carry on this legacy, blending style and sophistication with a hybrid powertrain. The name “Prelude“ fittingly positions the car as an introduction to Honda’s future models, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to sports performance and the joy of driving.
Tomoyuki Yamagami, Chief Engineer at Honda, highlights that the new Honda Prelude represents the latest chapter in their hybrid evolution. Combining 25 years of hybrid research and development, the Prelude maintains its sporty DNA while offering the environmental benefits of electrified driving. This model underscores Honda’s dedication to hybrid powertrains as a crucial part of their electrification strategy, aiming for 100% of new vehicle sales to be battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell by 2040.
This concept car is 95% close to the production model we hope to launch in 2025.
