ALICE AND THE DOG CATCHER is a black-and-white silent short film created and directed by Walt Disney. It stars Virginia Davis as Alice. It features live action segments paired with animated sequences. It was released on July 1, 1924. Alice conducts a secret meeting and devises a plan to free all dogs by eliminating the dog catchers. This short has the new format. Alice doesn’t have a dream about Cartoon Land, but instead tells a story about one of her animated adventures. It also has the absence of her usual sidekick, Julius the Cat, replaced in this short by an unnamed dog. How Disney routinely exerted influence on the US copyright law: The Alice Comedies series was created by Walt Disney, Ub Iwerks, and their staff in the 1920s, in which a live action little girl named Alice has adventures in an animated landscape. The shorts were the first work by what ultimately became The Walt Disney Company. Unfortunately, not all of these shorts survived.
