The Slow Fox Trot (1931)

Full titles read: “Now Pathetone presents - The Slow Fox Trot - Demonstrated by Santos Casani, the well-known Teacher of Dancing.“ London (probably Pathe Studio). M/S of dance teacher Santos Casani demonstrating the Slow Fox Trot with a lady in a black evening gown. A man plays the piano for them and several ladies in evening dresses sit around watching. C/U of the feet of Santos and his partner as they dance; Santos points out his partner is wearing a special short dress for filming. We see C/U of their feet from below as they dance over a glass floor (we can actually see right up the girl’s long dress in this shot, but we are meant to be concentrating on the feet!). Then a ’double view’ shows the leg movements from ground level and the feet from below in a split screen.
