Meningiomas are tumors arising from the meninges, or the protective membranes covering the brain. They are tumors of adulthood, and are more common in females than in males. Because they arise from the meninges, these tumors are often found attached to the surfaces of the brain and in the parasagittal region (along the falx cerebri).
