This is an edited scene from the film Karate Girl. It is an excellent example, in my opinion, of what traditional karate techniques would look like in a combat situation vs. unarmed attackers. Simplicity, grit, zanshin, and power are all present. Nothing fancy. I love this clip! All credit to original uploader. I did not like Karate Girl nearly as well as the other production team’s movies, High Kick Girl and Black Belt / Kuro Obi. Naka Sensei (6th dan, JKA Shotokan) has given a gift to the world with his willingness to appear in the films I mention above. If you have not seen Black Belt/Kuro Obi, in my opinion, it is the finest movie about Karate-do that I have ever seen. I can’t recommend it enough. High Kick Girl looks like an exploitation film if you look at the cover, but it is actually a (somewhat campy) film about the spirit of Karate-do, and is not bad. I hope this clip inspires you as much as it does me. Happy training! Osu!
