Drawing and Painting a Big Bass with Charcoal and Acrylic on Canvas
I’ve never caught a largemouth bass this big, but it sure was fun to draw and paint! This piece is titled “Hooked“. I started with an acrylic wash, added a base of charcoal powder, then sketched it out with vine charcoal. Next I used a kneaded eraser to erase out highlights, sprayed with acetone and fixative, then added another layer fo charcoal. Finally I painted in the highlights with acrylic paint. I love the way it turned out. I don’t often draw or paint fish, but this one was a special request from BassPro/Cabela’s. I might have to try a few more like it. Hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks!
