OSTROGOTH - Full Moons Eyes - EP 1983 #80sheavymetal #classicheavymetal #oldschoolheavymetal #heavymetal #heavy_metal #80s

🔘Back in the ’80s, in the wake of the NWOBHM, most every country in Europe produced a number of band sand Belgium was no exception. That scene was led by Killer, Crossfire, and Ostrogoth, the latter seeing a reissue of their EP and three full-length albums in 2023 courtesy of High Roller Records. I remember Full Moon’s Eyes, Ostrogoth’sdebut EP, from back in the day, Like their countrymen, Ostrogoth had that Euro/traditional sound which combined the rough and ready production from the NWOBHM with the hooks and catchiness of the US scene. There’s nothing complicated about Ostrogoth’s songwriting, but that makes it no less enjoyable even 40 years after it was originally released. You can hear the youthful energy in the title trackas well as the band’s influences on songs like “Paris by Night“ with its riff that sounds like it came froma Diamond Head album. I’m not sure thisqualifiesasa “gem,“ but it is pretty good ’80s metal. That EP that featured them called “Full Moon’s Eyes’, where we can find NWOBHM things, like Maiden (more than obvious influence on the riffs and melodies) or Saxon, but also a lot of that budding speed metal bands like the English Jaguar or Raven. Furthermore, without ceasing to remember the US power bands like Omen, Savage Grace or Jag Panzer, with some dark and sharp riffs, choruses pure, emotional and representative of what What is heavy metal? This sound is consolidates in the next album, ’Ecstasy and Danger’. The same; heavy metal with aged flavor and two balls, with that endearing touch of pure mastery metalhead and a certain air of rebellion youth that is passionate. Frenzy, rocker rhythms and especially the NWOBHM, with its heartfelt solos taken from Killers himself. And of course, also with that facet that blends so well with power US, which will happen on the next album called, ’Too Hot’. A tight, raw album with melodic solos and killer riffs. The sound of Ostrogoth changes somewhat, the band became even more in the vein of heavy and power metal with an album that is catchy as hell a la power US. (*El Portal del Metal) _TRACKLIST_ 1.
