Move Your Van!!! (We’ve A Railroad To Run!)

It’s a scene that’s been played out countless times over the years: a motor vehicle is too close to the tracks on Utica, NY’s Schuyler St, a freight train stops, its conductor detrains, finds the motorist (whatever the hour) then requests him to move his vehicle. Here, a New York, Susquehanna & Western train led by engine No. 3040, is heading south on Schuyler St, just past noon on the frigid afternoon of Jan 22, 2019. A parked van is too close, the train stops, and the age-old ritual plays out anew.
