La Vuelta 2023, Stage 16 (Liencres Playa - Bejes), course, route, profile, animation

“Tuesday, 12 September A short, explosive ride with a short, explosive finale. That’s the summary of the 120-kilometre route between Liencres Playa and Bejes. The final climb is an irregular affair of 4.8 kilometres with an average of 8.8% and an extremely steep finish. Especially the arrival area in Bejes makes your mouth water. It is reminiscent of Mûr de Bretagne, where Mathieu van der Poel triumphed in the 2021 Tour after a double and daring breakaway attempt. Or the long ramp in Lausanne, where Wout Van Aert took victory in the 2022 Tour. In fact, the course is located at the top of Bejes, on a climb with gradients of up to 15%. The average is 8.8%, while the road climbs in double digits for the last 1.8 kilometres. The start is also quite demanding. Only at the halfway point is there a section that pushes the average. The 115 kilometres before the final climb lead over hilly terrain. The total number of metres in altitude between Liencres and Bejes is over 2,000.“ ( & Routes ’n’ Maps ’n’ Flags) Creating cycling stage animations requires a lot of work and computing power.
