With Hollywood so prone to reboot, remake, sequel, prequel or reimagine movies of the past, there’s been lots of discussion about each of these terms. Far too often we throw out terms without stopping to consider what they mean.
Reboot and remake mean something similar, but they’re two different things. Adding to the confusion is that some movies are both a remake and a reboot. Others are just one or the other.
