€600 MILLION the EU spent in Sahel region didn’t help – Josep Borrell

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has admitted that the bloc’s decade-long mission in the Sahel region of Africa has essentially failed. Soldiers from EU states, mostly from France, had been in the Sahel since 2013, with the stated goal of fighting terrorism. And as Borrell has noted, the €600 mln in aid did not help consolidate the military or its ability to support democratic governments.
