Hiking

For this section B hike, Wabbit, Rei and I met at the Mt San Jacinto SP Ranger Station (HQ), 25905 Highway 243, Idyllwild, CA 92549, at 5am to pick up our free day use permit from the 24h kiosk they have on the porch. They also have flush toilets. We then drove to the finish point at Humber Park, hung the Adventure Pass, and then carpooled to the start at Cedar Spring TH. Stepped off about 6:30am, and it was and 1,299’ vertical ascent from the tail head to the PCT at Cedar Spring Junction (162.7). We met Josh “Lost and Found“ and travelled with him for a good portion of the hike. We saw the plaque for Trevor “Microsoft“ Laher, which was sobering. The rock slide at 172.5 was thrilling, pray you don’t have vertigo. We finished the PCT section at Saddle Junction (179.4). We then descended from the PCT along Devil’s Slide trail for (1,635’ vertical descent) to Humber Park by headlamp. We saw about 16 other hikers total, and only 3 were SOBO.
