◾African nations have a debt problem after decades of “loans“ from Western countries and organisations like the US or the IMF, but what do they demand in return and what is the so called “debt trap“.
◾ America and the UE have for long accused China of wanting to stablish dominance over Africa through their development projects, but the truth is that the US forgave half of Egypt’s debt of 20.2 billion dollars for their participation in the invasion of Iraq in the first Gulf war, but even after that Egypt still hostage of the IMF debt trap. Sudan was forced to pay more than 4 billion dollars to the victims of 9/11 despite having no involvement in the attacks and while the US having funded and trained Osama Bin Laden.
◾For the Africans to turn to different partners than the West is not a problem, since they have learnt the lesson, and their now Russian and Chinese relations seek a different approach.
