Being a member of Pantherinae- a sub family of Felidae family they are found across the forests of South Asia, the rain forests of Indonesia and the foothills of the Nepal Himalaya. The unique dark cloud-like marking on its body, legs, head and tail brings it the name clouded leopard. The fur colour varies from pale yellow to tail measures around 30 inches long and helps it to balance on narrow branches with its body measuring around 36 inches. These small cats are known for their climbing skills. Their large paws and sharp claws gives grip and helps to hang upside down beneath large branches. They hunt for deer, pigs, monkeys, porcupines and smaller animals such as squirrels and birds.
