2 Bed Flat On Mars - Emily Francis Trio - Live at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club

2 Bed Flat On Mars is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the exploitation of innovation. By the time the human race finally have a means to travel to or even live on the planet Mars, someone will no doubt find a way to monetise it. Band members Emily & Trevor were also in the process of struggling to save for their first “2 Bed Flat“ when this was originally written in 2018 and would joke, “when we finally make it to Mars, we might be able to afford it by then“. Fun fact: Emily decided the night before this performance that she would try the synth intro which segued “Broken Kingdom Pt 1“ into “2 Bed Flat On Mars“. It proved so successful that the band often use this arrangement live and it prompted Emily to write a completely new intro for the LUMA album version. Charlie Dale’s lighting on this performance captures the mood perfectly and this was all completely unrehearsed!
