Joti Brar hosts a free Julian Assange rally outside the Royal Courts of Justice

Joti Brar, vice chair of the Communist Party of Great Britain (ML) speaks in support of Julian Assange outside the Royal Courts of justice on what is likely to be the final stage of his judicial appeal against extradition to the USA, where he is likely to languish until death in that most unjust system of torture. Joti points out that 1. Julian has committed no crime. He is a journalist. 2. His crime in the eyes of the Anglo-American imperialists is in fact telling the truth. Doing his job effectively. Exposing the real and heinous crimes, including war crimes and genocide, of the imperialist powers themselves. 3. This case shows that the British imperialist ruling class, as the junior partner of US imperialism will trample all its own laws underfoot to serve the interests of US and their own monopoly capitalism. 4. This case shows the limits of free speech in Britain - and the US: you can say anything as long as you are wrong, or ineffective. The minute you expose their false narrative in such a way as to threaten their looting of the world, they will come down on you like a ton of bricks. That is Julian’s real crime. 5. This case shows another key way that our ruling class maintains its power: a controlled opposition. The Labour Party prevents workers from mobilising against their economic interests. Where are the trade unions, the journalists, the anti war movement, the peace movement, the freedom of speech movement? They should be up in arms! They should surround these illegal “legal” proceedings, the belmash gaol and torture chambers, the entire state mechanism that is aimed against Julian and the British workers themselves. It is the Labour Party that keeps all of these organisations tame, insipid, and ineffective. We, in the communist party will say what others ate unable to.
