LIVE: Merkel and AKK pay tribute to German soldiers who took part in Afghanistan evacuation

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer pay tribute to the German soldiers who were part of the evacuation effort from Kabul, in Seedorf, on Wednesday September 22. Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer is expected to speak to soldiers who were deployed in Kabul and Tashkent and award some of the soldiers that were on duty in Afghanistan. Up to 600 emergency services were involved in Germany’s military evacuation that flew out 5,347 people between August 16 and the end of its operation on August 26.
