My First Time in JAKARTA (I Can’t Believe This!) 🇮🇩

This is my first time in Indonesia, Jakarta! I’m really excited to be here and can’t wait to explore this mega city! If you’re considering a trip to Indonesia, then be sure to check out the wonderful city of Jakarta! This hustling and bustling city is bursting with culture, architecture and luxury shopping. In this video, I’m sharing my first impressions of Jakarta and my first time in Indonesia, including my thoughts on the city, the huge modern shopping malls and the stark contrast of poverty in some areas. I started my journey near the Jakarta’s ASEAN MRT station that conveniently transports pedestrians all over this busy city. Our quest today was to get to the National monument (MONAS), but I wasn’t sure which station I should go to, but we figured it out a long the way. The subway was quite cheap to purchase a ticket and was very modern and futuristic inside. I didn’t see a single piece of rubbish anywhere! No homeless people either. It was quite pleasant and convenient. Whilst riding the MRT I found out that the National monument is actually not open on a monday, but the journey must continue anyway! After some slight confusion on the MRT, I decided to head outside and out onto the streets of Jakarta and walk the rest of the way to the Monument. Upon the way I popped into a very luxurious shopping mall to cool down from the heat of the streets and utilise the AC inside the mall. It had so many high end designer brands. I got a bit lost inside, but eventually managed to found my way out and back onto the streets of Jakarta Although the monument was closed on Mondays and headed back the next day to go inside of it and to the top. It was quite a long wait to be able to go to the top. It the view worth such a long wait? Well I’ll let you be the judge of that. After that I decided to head over the Istiqlal Mosque, ufortunately it was also closed on a monday. Maybe I’ll head over there another day. The sky quickly started to become very dark, so I decided to order a Grab bike back to my hotel. The Fairmont Hotel. It was quite lovely to get a quick tour of the city on the back of the grab bike and immerse myself deep into the Jakarta traffic. After that a quick tour of my hotel which is called the Fairmont Hotel, quite a luxurious hotel but a little bit pricey, it did have a great location though right next to a gold course. The hotel room that we stayed in was probably one of the best rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was huge, and had two toilets! I then ordered some lovely Indonesian pizza and donuts which were absolutely delicious! Then down to the swimming pool to relax a bit, although there was a thunderstorm brewing in the distance. The pool area was very luxurious, it also had a wonderful jacuzzi as well. If you’re curious about Indonesia, or just want to see what all the hype is about, be sure to check out this Jakarta vlog!
