A quarter of the country’s population is affected by the historic flood in Djibouti Torrential rains in Djibouti have led to flash floods, devastating infrastructure, homes, and livelihoods nationwide. Djibouti City experienced a two-year equivalent rainfall, with over 300mm recorded. Government data shows around 250,000 people, a quarter of the population, affected by the floods. Concerns mount for 150,000 individuals, including migrants and refugees, in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Naturals hazards in 2023 have become more frequent. We do not know what awaits us in 2025.
