Royal Anthem of Canada [until 2022]: God Save the Queen (extended version)

“God Save the Queen“ (alternatively “God Save the King) is the royal anthem of Canada, while “O Canada“ is the national anthem of Canada. The royal anthem originated as a patriotic song in London in 1745 but neither the author nor the composer is known. It is also the national anthem of the United Kingdom, and the royal anthem of the 15 other Commonwealth realms. In addition, it served as Canada’s de facto national anthem until 1967, when it became the royal anthem. In this video, we can also see the third verse sometimes sung in Canada. FRANÇAIS: «Dieu sauve la Reine» (ou «God Save the Queen» en anglais) est l’hymne royal du Canada, alors que « Ô Canada » sert comme l’hymne national.
