The Rose - Sour (Live Performance)
Sometimes it helps to take a new direction. Up until 2016, members of The Rose were creating music under the name Windfall, bringing an indie slant to their tunes, which had roots in street-corner busking. But when singer-guitarist Kim Woosung, keyboardist Park Dojoon, drummer Lee Hajoon, and bassist Lee Jaehyeong got with a new management company, a few tweaks were made and their pop success had a proper liftoff. 2017’s “Sorry“ and “Like We Used To“ boasted a vocal-dominated soft-rock approach with heartfelt ballads and plenty of confidence. Critics and fans reacted, and a year later Billboard declared them a K-Pop breakout act with everything needed to craft a memorable career. In 2020 fans of The Rose found they’d been invited to open the Seoul date of Halsey’s Manic World tour, but the pandemic squashed the gig.
