GF – TIPSY EGGS - Easter Egg Coloring Without Chemicals (recipe in description box below)

This is an all-natural way to dye eggs with red wine and rice. The red wine dyes the Easter eggs a beautiful color plus gives them a cool crystalized texture. Using this method each egg will be different and beautiful. You can use either brown or white eggs. If you prefer solid colors, don’t wrap your eggs, just place in red wine and boil as per instructions below. Ingredients: 3 white eggs (raw) 3 brown eggs (raw) 1 bottle red wine 1/2 cup uncooked rice (93 g) You will also need: Gloves Cheesecloth Kitchen Twine Paper towel 1. Bring eggs to room temperature (keep on countertop for 30 min) 2. Cut cheesecloth in square pieces 3. Dampen uncooked eggs with water 4. And roll them in uncooked rice 5. Place the egg on a piece of cheesecloth and wrap it tight 6. Secure the wrapped egg with kitchen twine 7. Place uncooked wrapped eggs into a pot (single layer) 8. Pour a bottle of red wine into the pot to cover the eggs 9. Bring the red wine to a boil 10. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes 11. Turn off the heat and leave the eggs in the pot until they cool completely 12. Keep the eggs in the wine for 12 hours (refrigerated) 13. Unwrap the cooled eggs and remove rice 14. Place the eggs on paper towel to dry or use hair dryer to dry them quickly 15. Use olive oil to polish the eggs to get a natural glow 16. Put small amount of olive oil on paper towel 17.
