Dokken - Monsters of Rock Tour, 1988 - MTV Highlight Reel (30th Anniversary Edition)
In honor of Mr. Scary, aka George Lynch (the iconic guitarist from Dokken), turning 64 today, I decided to touch up, and post in HD, a rare, barely-seen piece of historical Dokken footage, captured by MTV from the band’s 1988 headlining tour with Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, and Kingdom Come on the Monsters of Rock, in support of Dokken’s multi-platinum album from 1987, “Back For The Attack.“ It’s a shame the band broke up in 1989, because they were at their peak of popularity, but alas this footage is here to at least show us of said peak, as they are interviewed with live footage of “Standing In The Shadows,“ and “It’s Not Love,“ intercut with showing the band’s iconic music videos for “Heaven Sent,“ and “Burning Like A Flame.“. It’s also really cool watching it now, being this year marks the 30th anniversary of the tour as well. Another fun fact: According to Don and George, the entire show that this footage is from was professionally filmed, but has yet to see the light of day. I definitely hope to see it out in its full glory soon!
NOTE: This video was posted by another channel, , however, I just wanted to boost the colors, and upload only the Dokken segment from the 45 minute news report on MTV. Credit goes to their channel and website. I just posted it here for entertainment and archiving purposes. All rights belong to , and most importantly, Dokken, MTV, and Elektra Records. Otherwise, enjoy!
