The Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt is the lead plant in the compact vehicle global production network. Other production plants in the network include a Hungarian plant in Kecskemét, a Chinese production site BBAC in Beijing, a joint venture production plant COMPAS in Mexico an a French plant in Hambach. In 2019, the A- and B-Class as well as the GLA were produced at the production plant. There, the first Mercedes-Benz A-Class rolled off the assembly line in 1997 and began the success story of Mercedes-Benz compact cars.
