C.J. Latta’s Diary (1950-1959)

C.J. Latta and his wife together with the Mayor of Bermondsey in the East End of London open a new playground funded by the Variety Club of GB. Entourage walk through crowds to playground with flats in BG. C.J. makes a speech (not sync) to adoring fans. Kids play on slide and rocking horse. An earlier Variety Club function, four show girls in plastic bags arrive to applause from dinner quests. They remove the bags and give out presents to the quests. A monkey is carried around and shakes hands. Ext. shot “Associated British Pictures Association“ building. Busload of Yorkshire miners arrive at Elstree Studios and are greeted by C.J. After a meal they tour the studios. The miners in work cloths pose with actress’s on the set. C.J. meets Jack Warner, and they have a large diner reception. Another Variety Club function to give C.J. a gift. Massed pipe bands march playing through the streets to large crowds in Scotland. C.J. and family pose outside a house in Stamford for a reunion.
