The Shinsen-en is a small Japanese Garden located in the south side of the Nijo Castle, in Kyoto, Japan. The history of this garden goes back to the year 794, when it was built as a private garden for the Emperor. According to the records, it was bigger than it is now, with 500 meters from north to south and 240 meters from east to west.
