King’s Speech: Starmer’s key pledges from State Opening of Parliament

#King Charles addressed those gathered at the Palace of Westminster to conduct the State Opening of #Parliament. He delivered the King’s #Speech in the House of Lords and set out Sir Keir Starmer’s legislative agenda for the new Labour #Government. Some of the key policy plans listed included a radical overhaul of planning rules, a resurrection of Rishi Sunak’s smoking ban for young people and the implementation of counter-terror style powers to tackle cross-Channel people smuggling.
