UK unveils sanctions against Iran after plot to kill two TV presenters exposed

Seven individuals and one organisation linked to Iran have been sanctioned by the UK in co-ordination with the US, the Foreign Office has announced. The new package of sanctions targets members of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Unit 840, which was exposed in an ITV report into plots to assassinate two television presenters from news channel Iran International in the UK. Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron said Iran’s regime and criminal gangs “pose an unacceptable threat to the UK’s security“ and Britain “will not tolerate this threat“.
