New York’s Verrazano Bridge Groans and Shifts in High Winds

The upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge connecting Staten Island and Brooklyn, New York, was closed on Monday, November 30, due to high winds, police said. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Brooklyn on November 30, which included a gale warning for the New York Harbor. Video that surfaced on social media on Monday shows the empty suspension bridge making groaning noises as it shifted in the wind. Credit: Peter Buccheri via Storyful Original video: @tif
