Brahms - Hungarian Dance No. 5 | Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Waldbühne Berlin 1994)
From the Waldbühne Berlin 1994 “A Night of Dances and Rhapsodies“:
Excerpt of the Berliner Philharmoniker, under the baton of Mariss Jansons, performing “Hungarian Dance No. 5“ by Johannes Brahms.
After a meeting in 1850, where Brahms met the Hungarian violinist Ede Reményi he was introduced to the “csárdás“, hungarian folk dances. This is how he got inspired to write gypsy-style-music, such as the world-famous Hungarian Dances.
