Sophia Avocado is a 10 year old musician from Southeast Michigan and excited to show you her Acoustic rendition of George Gerswhin’s “Summertime“ composed originally in 1934 and performed in 1935 in the opera “Porgy & Bess“. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel “Porgy“ on which the opera was based and the song is also co-credited to Ira Gershwin. Numerous musicians including well known artists like , Nina Simone Janis Joplin, Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong have performed Summertime and we hope you enjoy Sophia’s version.
