Low F string gauge test on Dingwall Afterburner

Here’s a quick string gauge test I made with the .170, .165, and .145 nickel strings from @DingwallGuitars and Payson Strings. The first half of each gauge is a DI clip, the second half is a bass tone I dialled in with the @NeuralDSP Darkglass Ultra Plugin (same setting across the board). The breakdown from “The Cure“ by @WAKEUPHATEMUSIC overlaid it over the song to demonstrate. The pickups are Dingwall FD3 and rotary setting is the bridge and middle in series. I recorded direct through my Solid State Logic SSL2. No further processing was done to the DI. All parts played with a .60mm pick. Hopefully you’ll like the sounds. Bass spec as follows: Body: Alder Neck: Maple Fingerboard: Ebony Pickups: FD3 Rotary: 3X Preamp: Darkglass Tone Capsule (not used in this video) Strings: Dingwall Nickel .170 / Payson Nickel .170, .165, .145 Time Stamps: 0:00 Tuning (low F) 0:02 Payson Nickel .170 DI 0:12 Payson Nickel .170 w/ Darkglass Ultra Plugi
