Jewel Master is lowkey one of the top soundtracks of the Mega Drive library. Motoaki Takenouchi was a graduate of Department of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts one of the most prestigious music schools in Japan, and this is one of his first professional works before he went on to do Shining Force and many other games, with his signature style being obviously influenced by progressive rock (right down to the name of some of these songs). The game itself has been panned by (IMO) lazy game reviewers but these days some of these harder 2D games from yesteryear are being appreciated for the difficulty instead of derided, and back in the day trust me that as kids we played through these games with focus and dedication. Honestly it is a bit sad at how negative narratives have been set for many games, and how certain YouTube channels made it popular to hate upon games instead of loving them. I love seeing people livestream these games and fully enjoy them as a counter statement to that negativity. C
