Torrential Floods Hit Bamako, Mali 🇲🇱 October 8 2024 Inondations

In the past 24 hours, Mali has been grappling with severe flooding due to heavy seasonal rains that have affected several regions, including the capital, Bamako. Since the start of the rainy season, the flooding has affected over 47,000 people across 17 regions, displacing many and causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure. The most affected areas include Gao in the north, which has seen the worst damage, with thousands impacted. In response to this crisis, Mali’s government has declared a national state of emergency and allocated significant resources to provide food and support to the affected communities. Humanitarian efforts are ongoing, but the flooding is exacerbating existing challenges in the region, including food insecurity and access to basic services.
